Creating Animations

This is the core workflow: describe what you want, watch it render in the preview, and refine it by chatting. Make sure Animation is enabled for the agent first.

Step 1 — (Optional) Plan with the Motion Director

For anything beyond a simple title card, plan first. The Motion Director turns a rough idea into an editable, scene-by-scene storyboard and a polished prompt — a better brief produces a better video. When you're done, it sends the prompt to the agent for you.

Step 2 — Describe the animation

In the Testing tab (or the agent's published page), tell the agent what you want, for example:

"Make a 5-second intro that fades in the title 'Quarterly Review' on a dark-blue gradient, then slides in three bullet points."

The agent generates the Remotion code — no MP4 is produced at this stage. A progress card walks through steps like directing → implementing → ready to preview, and the Animation tab shows a pulsing dot while it works.

Tips for good prompts

  • Say the duration and pacing — "5-second intro", "hold each line for about a second".
  • Name the look — colours, gradients, fonts, mood ("energetic", "corporate", "playful").
  • Describe scenes in order — "first… then… finally…".
  • Reference your assets by filename — "use logo.png in the top-left" (see Assets).
  • Change one thing at a time when iterating — it's easier to see the effect.

Step 3 — Watch the Live Preview

The Live Preview card plays the generated animation instantly, right in the browser — play, scrub, loop and go fullscreen. It always reflects the latest generated code and refreshes automatically after the agent makes an edit. Use Refresh to reload manually.

Because the preview runs the real Remotion code, any broken code shows an error here before you render — see Live Preview & Console.

Step 4 — Iterate by chatting

Keep talking to the agent to refine it:

  • "Make the title bigger and centre it."
  • "Change the background to a purple-to-black gradient."
  • "Add a fourth bullet: 'Thank you'."
  • "Slow the intro down and add a fade-out at the end."

Each reply updates the workspace and the preview refreshes. Repeat until it looks right.

Step 5 — Download and render

When you're happy, click Download Project and render the MP4 on your own machine — see Downloading & Rendering.

Starting over

New Project resets the workspace to the starter template (and clears the Motion Director storyboard). Use it to change the format, frame rate or duration, or to begin a completely different video.
